Facts and Documents

The section below provides a selection of strategic documents, as well as key quantitative data about Russia. Documents include major treaties, foundational charters and strategies for foreign and defense policy, among others. Most of the graphs and charts in this section provide a comparison of Russia with several groups of its international competitors and peers, including Western nations, BRICS, petrostates and former Soviet republics. The exceptions are: Russia 101, which compares Russia only to the United States; Russia #1s, which focuses on areas in which Russia has at some point surpassed all countries in the world (or at least in Europe), from nuclear warheads and satellite launches to heroin use and inmate deaths; and the timelines.
