This podcast originally appeared on the Davis Center website.
Anna Veduta says she endured beatings by police while serving as press secretary for anti-corruption campaigner Alexei Navalny’s 2013 Moscow mayoral campaign. Now she works for Meduza, a Riga-based Russian-language news site that is now available in English thanks to an ambitious translation effort. But while Meduza avoids Russian censorship in Riga, challenges remain. Veduta discusses how Russian-language independent media outlets struggle to survive both in Russia and abroad.
