Russia’s War in Ukraine: Implications for China

Online

Join the Foreign Policy Research Institute for a talk on Russia's war in Ukraine and its implications for China.

Russia’s war in Ukraine has implications well beyond the region.  Among the most significant is likely to be the impact on China’s role in international affairs.  What are the implications for what had been a growing alignment between Moscow and Beijing? What does China’s refusal to join in the international effort to isolate Russia, its embrace of much of Putin’s narrative on the conflict, and its thin offer to mediate portend for China’s stature and influence? What are the implications of the war in Ukraine for Beijing’s approach to the issue of Taiwan?
