Russia: The War’s Ideological Infrastructure and the Future of Moscow’s Soft Power
Professor Marlene Laruelle will explore the set of arguments and institutions that constitute the “ideological infrastructure” justifying Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. One indeed needs to look at the “chain of production” of ideological tools and the institutions producing them to better understand the role that ideological beliefs may have played in Putin’s decision-making process. She will then explore what remains of Russia’s soft power toward European and US far-right constituencies in a context where everything Russian has become toxic.
This event will be held in person for NYU affiliates only. Others will be able to join on Zoom.
