International Business in Russia: Feverish Past, Tortured Present, Uncertain Future

March 28, 2025, 4:30-6:00pm
K354, Knafel Bldg., 1737 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA

Join veteran risk analyst and Davis Center alumnus Charles Hecker (’87) for a talk on the always complex, frequently unstable, and never boring relationship between foreign investors and Russia. Drawing from his new book Zero Sum: The Arc of International Business in Russia (Oxford University Press), the talk will touch on the varied experiences of international executives in post-Soviet Russia over the decades and assumptions made about the country by the Western business community. It will likewise consider whether foreign investors who have broken with Russia will ever be able to — or want to — do business there again. Students and followers of political risk, geopolitics, and globalization will find ample food for thought and engaging discussion.
