Post-Soviet Kleptocracy in the West: Avenues of Influence

Nov. 28, 2018, 12:00-3:00pm
CGIS South Building, 1730 Cambridge Street, Room S354, Cambridge, MA

Join Harvard's Davis Center for a talk with Ilya Zaslavskiy on post-Soviet kleptocracy in the West. Zaslavskiy argues that in recent years the Kremlin has waged a creeping non-military war through new, non-traditional channels, most notably through new avenues of business, through oligarchs' business dealings and/or through anonymous offshore accounts. Zaslavskiy will discuss this issue and propose solutions in his talk.

Speakers:

Ilya Zaslavskiy, member, advisory board, Kleptocracy Initiative, Hudson Institute; head of research, Free Russia Foundation

Commentator: Matthew Stephenson, professor of law, Harvard Law School

Commentator: Inna Melnykovska, strategy and policy fellow, Smith Richardson Foundation; visiting scholar, Davis Center
